Apparently the pilot made an emergency landing due to a problem with the plane’s engine, which forced him onto the freeway. Luckily, no one was injured. Rumors about Google’s music service have circulated for a while, and now Billboard has the scoop on what exactly we can expect. According to a report by Ed Christman, both a digital download service and a cloud based offering are in the works, making it a very viable competitor to the ubiquitous iTunes store.
Apparently Google has mooted a $25 flat yearly fee for allowing users to store their music online and access it from anywhere, which seems incredible cheap. Clearly, they don’t know just how many MP3 files rabid collectors have amassed over the years. People who purchase music directly from Google will also have the option to store their wares directly in the cloud (or “locker,” as Google seem to be calling it).
Naturally, some social networking features would be involved, because apparently we can never have enough of those, but this is all conjecture at present as Google is still in negotiations with major record labels. But, for an initial proposal, which may well change before it becomes a reality, this looks very impressive so far.

Timbaland called in to Ryan Seacrest’s KIIS-FM radio show today to counter rumors of a possible suicide attempt. “I don’t even know what happened, to be honest. I don’t know what people are talking about,” the superproducer said, adding, “Why would I commit suicide?”
Online reports earlier in the day claimed that Timbaland had fled his house in an agitated state after discovering the theft of a watch worth $2 million, leading his family to call the police, who found him unharmed and brought him home. In the KIIS interview, Timbaland told Seacrest that he had indeed been robbed, but not of a watch, and firmly denied that he had ever intended to hurt himself.
“The only thing I did was take a drive to figure out how I’m going to handle [the theft],” Timbaland said. He added that he planned to return to the studio this afternoon to work with Keri Hilson on her next album. Reps for Timbaland have not responded to EW’s request for further comment.

“Authenticity” is the 3rd full-length from indie-soul duo The Foreign Exchange.
Picking up where their 2008 Grammy-nominated “Leave It All Behind” set left off, “Authenticity” is the group’s most diverse work to date, with a tight, 11-track song cycle spanning the duo’s trademark brand of lush electronic soul, to stripped down acoustic pieces that recall the heyday of 70′s singer-songwriter driven folk.
Lead single “Maybe She’ll Dream Of Me” is a playful, synth-driven hip-hop groove featuring a rapped verse from Phonte that evokes the band’s “Connected” era, while the epic opener “The Last Fall” finds some of the band’s most cynical lyrics to date (“Love is at worst an excuse/at best it’s a truce…”) over a frenzied Nicolay production jammed with layers of strings, guitars, and dense choral harmonies.
“I think every band reaches that point when they come into their own and find a sound that is distinctively theirs,” says Phonte in reference to the album’s title. “The title refers to me and Nic’s journey to find our own unique space within this vast musical landscape. The biggest challenge as a musician is to find that ‘thing’ that makes you who you are. But I think we’re getting there, and we’re finding our way more and more with each record.”

So, yesterday, I turned my radio dial to 95.5 The Beat as I often do… and I was surprised to hear TALK RADIO instead of hip hop/pop music! What?! I thought that maybe The Beat was trying to integrate some talk radio shows to educate some of the younger listeners, but I was completely wrong. According to the AJC, 750/WSB-AM, home to hometown stars Neal Boortz and Clark Howard, added 95.5FM to its broadcast, thus closing down 11-year old 95.5 The Beat. I’m not so happy about this. This reminds me when 103.5 The Beat shut down in Miami. Damn. Anyways, let me know your thoughts.
