The Vintage Mobile Cinema

In the late 60s, the UK’s Ministry of Technology has built seven buses with movie theaters inside.And the only one of the original mobile cinemas to have survived. Now it is outfitted with Epson EH-TW3500 LCD projector, Pioneer BDP-320 Blu-ray player, Onkyo TX-NR807 receiver and complete with Dolby 7:1 surround sound. It has 22 upholstered seats. The Vintage Mobile Cinema was launched in May 2010, they are based in the South West of England and are available for hire for private event. via Gizmodo. How do you get around traffic without flying cars? China is building these new buses that actually ride over traffic. One question: what if someone underneath the bus wants to switch lanes? Oh well. Construction is set to start next year. Pretty cool.

From inspecting the metal pressing discs and the lacquered masters, to centering the disc for hole punching, you’ve got sweet old ladies who are meticulously making sure your music will sound great. And the actual assembly process, even with automation, is like something you’d see in a Detroit auto maker’s factory: heavy hydraulic equipment pressing hot platters into precision shapes, rotating slicers, and vacuum-assisted label placers.”
