via freeonsmash. Record company executive, Steve Rifkind, sits down with Al Lindstrom to give his thoughts on the current state of the music industry. He speaks about the importance of artist development in today’s climate, instead of going for the quick buck and buzz. Steve Rifkind has developed artists such as the Wu-Tang Clan, Mobb Deep, Akon, etc.

I personally think that everyone is de-valuing music by giving so much of it away for free. I can log on to livemixtapes.com or most other blog sites and find music way too easily. We need to teach the consumers that music is worth buying again.
