French animation artist Cedric Berthier heard Now On’s song “All You Ever Knew” from their classic album Tomorrow Already and was instantly inspired to create this video. The trio, which includes Mayer Hawthorne along with IX Lives (son of Larry “Squirrel” Demps of the legendary Dramatics) and Jackson Perry, dropped Tomorrow Already in 2008 just before Mayer’s debut.

Behind-the-scenes for the Mayer Hawthorne video I posted yesterday for “Your Easy Lovin’ Ain’t Pleasin’ Nothin.”

Singer, producer, and multi-instrumentalist, Mayer Hawthorne, has revitalized soul music with a touch of today’s modern R&B. His debut album, A Strange Arrangement, has grown a large fan base worldwide, currently touring internationally at the European Festival Circuit. We have the behinds the scenes footage of his new video for the upbeat single “Your Easy Lovin’ Ain’t Pleasin’ Nothin’.” It’s 70’s, summer-fun feel carries out the portrait of Mayer’s soul revival. The video is a one take project, meaning there were no cuts taken from the film. Hawthorne and his live band, the County, will return to the States August 14 for Denver’s Mile High Music Festival.

Mayer Hawthorne is a 31-year old singer/songwriter/producer signed to Stones Throw Records. When you see the photo above, you may not be able to categorize what type of music you are about to hear. Think classic R&B in the vein of 60s/70s era Motown soul. Mayer Hawthorne draws his influence from music such as Curtis Mayfield, Isaac Hayes, Leroy Hutson, Barry White, Smokey Robinson, etc. Check the video for “Just Ain’t Gonna Work Out” and his rendition of Tony Bennet’s classic “I Left My Heart in San Francisco” after the break.
