Posted by vinnykumar | ATL Music, Music, Music Videos, Southern Hip Hop | No CommentsVia NahRight. Full video premiere on Monday on MTV2. Trap or Die 2 drops April 30th. TM103 will be out in July. I can’t believe there are trailers for music videos now.
For all of the iPhone lovers out there (including myself), here are some pics of the next-gen iPhone that should be released this Summer. Apparently one of the engineers from Apple was celebrating his 27th birthday, and accidently left it at a bar. Gizmodo paid a hefty $5,000 for it, but then later had to return it to Apple. Some of the new features are listed after the break. For the full story on how the phone was lost, click here.
Ester Dean feat. Chris Brown – "Big Things" (Prod. Polow Da Don)
Posted by vinnykumar | Music, Pop Music | No CommentsSo, Ester Dean released a song called “Drop It Low” a while back, and she returns with her new single “Big Things” feat. Chris Brown on the hook. Production by Timbaland Polow Da Don. Pretty good follow up for Ester Dean.

Gucci Mane – "Good Money"/"Throw Money" feat. Sean Garrett
Posted by vinnykumar | ATL Music, Music, Southern Hip Hop | No CommentsIn my opinion, two hot records off of the Cold War series of mixtapes released by DJ Drama, DJ Holiday, and DJ Scream last year. I know these songs are a little old, but I doubt everyone has heard them. I’m still surprised that I’m not hearing “Throw Money” feat. Sean Garrett in the Atlanta clubs. I didn’t realize it at first, but I do find it somewhat comedic that both songs I’m posting end in the word “money”.

New single from Kelis called “Acapella” produced by electro/house producer David Guetta. This is a far cry from Kelis’ performance on “Caught Out There”, “I’m Bossy”, or “Milkshake”, and I’m not sure how I feel about it. I do like David Guetta, but this sounds a little generic to me. You can form your own opinion. Anyways, this album will include more production from David Guetta as well as Will.I.Am.

New music video for Sauce Money’s “Snipershot” off his upcoming album on Asylum Records (Warner Music Group). Sounds like he may put out the album that should’ve come out during his Roc-A-Fella days. Anyways, this album will supposedly feature Jay-Z and Memphis Bleek.
For Artists: How to Promote Music in the Digital Age
Posted by vinnykumar | Music Business 101 | 2 CommentsLately, I’ve been having discussions with several peers about how modern-day consumers are able to find out about new music. In fact, I just had this conversation with my buddy Amir Windom from Atlantic Records. It’s interesting because we are no longer “forced” to watch music videos on MTV, BET, VH1, etc. Instead, we are provided with music videos and streaming content on blogs, which most people only sample (maybe 15-20 seconds?). If they don’t like something, they move on. Back in the day, if we wanted to watch MTV/BET, we had to WAIT for the next video to come on. Now we log onto WorldStarHipHop or YouTube, and we watch whatever seems interesting to us for a few seconds. Also, most artists accept the fact that they have to give away a certain amount of free music in order to promote their upcoming albums. At any rate, there was an interesting panel with several major bloggers put on by the Future of Music Coalition and Words Beats. The panel included Meka from 2dopeboyz, Dallas Penn, FWMJ, Jason R. (from Okayplayer), etc. They address such topics as: 1) How an artist can succeed in a digital environment, 2) the Telecommunications Act of 1996, 3) Reading vs. Visuals, 4) Posting content from a blogger’s perspective, 5) Labels vs. Blogs (i.e. Cease & Desist letters). Check out Part 1 below… Part 2 after the break.
