Lupe Fiasco – "I’m Beamin" (Prod. The Neptunes)

Posted by | Hip Hop, Music, UGHH | No Comments

So this record has been floating around for a little while now. This song started out as a leak from Lupe Fiasco’s album around December, which was initially supposed to be a single. Later, it was pulled from the blogs, and was put up on iTunes. Now it’s being serviced to radio again with a slightly altered beat and some additional instrumentation. Overall, it’s a good song. I hear that a remix with the Cool Kids is coming soon…

Video: Skillz and Boogie – "Wave Yo Hands"

New music video from one of my good friends, Skillz (formerly Mad Skillz). I would actually say that Skillz, Lonnie B., and DanjaMowf (from Richmond, VA) are the reasons that I am working in the music industry today. I used to hang out at their radio show at the University of Richmond (WDCE) every Saturday while I was in high school. Anyways, Skillz has ghostwritten for several rap artists, tours with DJ Jazzy Jeff, and continues to release quality music. Check out the video. (Oh yeh, check the cameo from Lil Roc of the Supafriendz/Disorganized Union)

Here is some information about the video: For skillz’s latest video we wanted to create what we thought matched the feel of the song best which was a general party atmosphere and a huge element of hip hop; dance. Blending old school and new school dancing mixed with the energy of the performers brings the video home. Filmed at Posh in downtown Richmond.

Basic Vocab – "A Better Way"

I suppose I should start off with our own group, Basic Vocab (AVX Music Group). They are produced by super-producer Tony Galvin (whose credits include “Shut Up” by Trick Daddy, “Baddest Bitch” for Trina, “You Know Who” for T.I. feat. Travis Barker, “Show It To Me” by T.I. feat. Nelly, “Show You What It Is” for Young Jeezy, etc). Ironically, with such mainstream production credits, Tony is able to craft music reminiscent of 90’s era songs by J Dilla or Pete Rock. In essence, Basic Vocab brings back the sound from the “Golden Era” of hip hop. Their breakout single, “Come Get With It” was featured in the credits of HBO’s Entourage in Season 5 Episode 8. Their sophomore album, “A Better Way” is currently available on iTunes. Pick it up. In the meantime, check out their first official single from the album, “Just Dance”.
