Mayer Hawthorne – “Mr. Blue Sky” (ELO Cover)

Here’s a new track off of Mayer Hawthorne’s upcoming 6-track Impressions covers EP which will be released online this week. The first song from the EP is an ELO cover entitled “Mr. Blue Sky”. The EP will also include covers of songs by Chromeo and The Isley Brothers, among others. I used to listen to ELO a lot back in the day… also, check out this great song by them entitled “Tight Rope“. (you may recognize where that sample was used – Okay, here.)

Of course this is in an old song… but not old enough to be a throwback. I just realized I never posted this! Check out James Pants’ song “Thin Moon” (off the album Seven Seals) as well as Mayer Hawthorne’s cover of it. I actually heard the Mayer Hawthorne cover first… both are great. Between MED, James Pants, Madlib, and Mayer Hawthorne, I’m loving this Stones Throw roster. Anyways, videos after the break (as always)…

Video: GlamourLyke – “It’s True (I Love You) feat. Dreamer”

So, I was hanging out with Greg Tecoz aka G-Fresh a few weeks ago at the tattoo shop, and I ran into an artist named Tony. He told me about his group, GlamourLyke, and played me some of the music.
