Skillz Presents: Hip-Hop Confessions Ep. 6

Posted by | Videos | No Comments

I’m not going to lie… Skillz never ceases to impress me. Jeff and I used to hang out at the University of Richmond radio station (WDCE) with Skillz, DanjaMowf, and DJ Lonnie B (Power 92.1) back when we were in high school. Since then, Skillz has dropped an album on E1, toured with DJ Jazzy Jeff, created the year-end-wrap-up song, done ghostwriting for several artists, and released a number of Hip Hop Confessions episodes. Anyways, this new episode features legendary producers/DJs Q-Tip & Peanut Butter Wolf sharing some hip hop related stories and Skillz tells the story of passing on three classic J-Dilla beats. Shout out to Skillz. Random Fact: Jeff and I bought Skillz’ old Ensoniq EPS 16-Plus from Lonnie B back in the day, and I still have it in my condo. Lol.

James Bond-Style Gold Plated "Pencil Pistol" Up for Grabs…

Posted by | Cool Stuff | No Comments

In true James Bond fashion, this gold plated pencil is actually a gun with a concealed trigger and a 2 3/4-inch barrel that forms a .22 pistol. This “pencil pistol” belonged to Lord Mountbatten, who originally received this as a gift from an Indian Maharaja as the last Viceroy of India. This 7-inch-long pencil pistol made in 1948 to the Maharaja of Jodhpur’s own design is now placed on the auction block in London to fetch nearly £1000 on June 24.

If you didn’t know… I am from Virginia. I grew up around the Supafriendz (Mad Skillz, DanjaMowf, Lonnie B, Kalonji the Immortal, Lil Roc, etc), the Infectious Organisms, Disorganized Union, D’angelo, Trey Songz, Teddy Riley, Blackstreet, The Clipse, The Neptunes, Nottz, Timbaland, Missy, Nicole Wray, etc. Needless to say, I have a special affinity for the music that comes out of Virginia. Here’s one of the records from VA Beach and Star Trak artist, Fam-Lay, off of the Neptunes’ compilation entitled Clones. Check it out.
