Only In Japan: Upscale Burger Kings with "Musical Showers"

Some new Japanese Burger King restaurants are now implementing “musical showers” in the booths. The booths contain iPod docking stations along with a half-sphere (that goes above the customer’s head) so that the customers can listen to their music as loud as they want without disturbing anyone else. Pretty interesting… I don’t know if I’d bother using it, but it’s pretty cool nonetheless.

Banana Vending Machines in Japan

Haha, this is so weird. They now have banana vending machines in Japan that maintain bananas at their ideal temperature of 55.4 degrees Farenheit, and they are priced at ¥130 (appx. $1.50 USD) a piece or ¥390 (appx. $4.50) for a bunch. Doesn’t make much sense considering bananas generally go bad after about a week or so. Ah well.

Only in Japan: Humping Dog and Peeing Dog Toys

The last time I went to Japan, I walked into a store and was surprised to see a display of “humping” dog-USB toys. Looks like they’ve now taken it a step further… Up for preorder at the Japan Trend Shop is the Peeing Dog, which is a robotic toy dog designed to replicate the behavior of a dog with a full bladder. After winding it up, it walks, stops, raises its hind leg, takes a pee, and then repeats from the beginning until it’s fuly unwound. The Peeind Dog will be released on July 5, but can be preordered for only $34.00, plus $18.00 shipping & handling.

Odd News: Chikan Subway Gropers Beware!

So, Japan (a 143,619 sq mile island) has a huge population of over 125+ million citizens and therefore the country is extremely overcrowded. This overcrowding, apparently, is also ideal for perverts who want to grope women. In Japan, a man who commits such an act is called a chikan, and they tend to perform such acts on the subway trains. I’ve been to Japan twice, and I’ve never noticed anything like it. Apparently, there are message boards where these chikans decide on a time and a place to “mass grope” women. At any rate, Japan Railways has tried to circumvent this problem by making “female only” cars and installing video cameras. Also, Japan is actually considered one of the safest countries. Is this “groping” not a safety concern? WTF!?
